Tom's first encounter with the party was aboard the ship traveling from Viren to Elinstad. During the trip, Claire became friends with him in hope of finding out information. They met up again in Elinstad and had lunch with the party, however Tom got the wrong idea and thought it was going to be a date. It wasn't, and actually started out as an excuse to be in the warehouse district to watch Goro's Storage.
